See an overview of 3 early 90's Orion HCCA amplifiers. I show the 2nd generation HCCA's, known as the "Digital Reference" series. These were the first HCCA's with internal bridging, whereas the first generation (aka "Moon & Stars) required a bridging module. The HCCA amps didn't have internal crossovers until the 3rd generation, known as the "pop top" models. I have a 225 HCCA pop top model I can show in an upcoming video. See the baby 225, big brother 250, and mack daddy 2100 HCCA's in this video. I also talk about how expensive these amps were back in 1991. I finally got one of each of these amps to add to the OldSchoolStereo.com collection...very cool since I've always dreamed of having these amps since the late 80's, knowing they were FAR out of my price range. This is my first demo of my new Sundown SA-8 v.2 after my box build. The box is 0.5cu, tuned to ~40Hz, sub is wired to 4ohms and is playing at 500w until I buy a 1000w monoblock. Its loud as hell for being a single 8" on 500w, and I'm no stranger to loud systems.

In the season three premiere of Amplified, the crew introduces the new installer. Rafael Felix, AKA Rafa. He installs a Clarion double din with Sirius into a Toyota Camry, Jordan and Doug revive the "Dust Blast" prank. Jordan installs an Alpine/Hertz system into a Saturn Ion. He powers a Cerwin Vega HED 12'' with an Alpine MRX-M50, and powers the Hertz ESK165, ECX165 with an Alpine MRP-F300. The system is fed by the new Alpine CDE-133bt bluetooth head unit. Doug installs the new Audison Voce 5.1k into an Acura TL and tunes it with a SMD DD-1 by Steve Meade Designs.

[16] 6.5" and [16] 8" tang band sub woofers in ported cabinets on [1600 watts] "The Sub Chamber" subwoofer cabinets are custom designed for small and large sub woofers and speakers using a "unique tune-porting formula". They are custom designed for churches, homes and autos. They enable smaller subs to sound just like the larger (18 inch) sub woofers. These sub woofer cabinets mainly use multiple smaller subs that will fit into any home or vehicle with ease, saving room. The subs in this video are 6.5" and 8" tang band sub woofers powered by two "old school" Linear Power 8002sw "voltage" amps (made in 1998 - still brand new). They are actually 2400 watt amps each. However, the battery power supply is FACTORY and will not hold up to major sound equipment. When the voltage of the battery goes down below +12 volts, the 200 watt mid range amp cuts off because it is internally regulated. The Linear Power amps are not regulated! They will play off of what ever voltages they are supplied with.(smaller voltage input = smaller voltage output. full voltage input = full voltage output (above +8vdc min.or so, up to +14.4vdc max). These tang band subs are small but they sound huge!!!!! The great thing though, is they don't need a lot of power, BUT they can handle alot of power. Especially when insalled in a vented or ported cabinet.
